Import conditions for fresh chilli fruit from Fiji to be published on 1 April 2024

Effective from 13 March 2024

On 1 April 2024, the department will publish import conditions on BICON for fresh chilli fruit from Fiji. Only three varieties of chilli fruit from Fiji will be permitted to be imported into Australia – bird’s eye, hot rod and red fire.

The import conditions are based on the standard commercial production practices and packing procedures outlined in the final report for the review of biosecurity import requirements for fresh Capsicum spp. fruit from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu.
