Commencement of BPL Season 2023-2024
Effective from 7 November 2023The Ministry of Primary Industries New Zealand (MPI NZ) has advised the department that the 2023-2024 flight season of the Burnt Pine Longicorn (BPL) beetle begins for all New Zealand ports as of midnight 00:01 hours (NZST) on Wednesday 8 November 2023.
Consignments loaded onto vessels and sealed into containers prior to 00:00 hours (NZST) on Wednesday 8 November 2023 are not required to meet import conditions for importing during BPL flight season.
Affected commodities from New Zealand include:
Break bulk and containerised |
Break bulk only |
Unfinished timber |
Plywood |
Round wood |
Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) |
Logs |
Veneer sheeting |
Oversize timber not for processing |
