New evidence requirements for animal fluids & tissues sourced from species other than those excluded

Effective from 13 October 2023

The department has reviewed import conditions for animal fluids and tissues and has updated the import conditions for this commodity.

As of 27th October 2023, the standard permit case for ‘animal fluids and tissues (excluding reproductive material) from species other than those excluded’ will require a manufacturer’s declaration or supplier’s declaration to demonstrate compliance with biosecurity requirements. These changes will provide the department with assurance that consignments of goods meet the import conditions.

You can view the proposed changes here.

What does this mean for you?
The changes will be applied to permits applied for on or after the 27th October 2023.

There is no action required from current permit holders. The department will not be amending current active import permits unless permit holders apply to vary their import permit via their online BICON account to request the updated conditions (fees apply).
