Update to the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) Free Country List

Effective from 22 June 2022

The department has updated the LSD-free country list for bovine sourced dairy.

The approved country list is referenced on active permits and in BICON pathways. The list is used where import conditions require bovine derived dairy to be sourced, processed, manufactured and exported from countries that are approved as free from LSD.

Who does this alert affect:
Importers of goods containing bovine derived dairy and department staff.

Background:
The department received notification of Croatia’s freedom from LSD, commencing 16 June 2022.

The Director of Biosecurity is required to act on changes to disease status in order to manage Australia’s biosecurity risk to an appropriate level of protection (ALOP).

Due to the recent change in Croatia’s LSD status, the department has updated the restrictions on the sourcing, processing, manufacture and export of bovine dairy from Croatia. These changes can be viewed on the LSD-free country list.
