Upcoming change to the Purified Antibodies BICON case

Effective from 24 May 2022

On 6 June 2022 the following changes will occur to Purified Antibodies BICON case:

  • The following import pathways in the BICON case and associated permit conditions will no longer be available, as the new import conditions ‘Purified antibodies raised against disease agents excluding pathogens of biosecurity concern (standard permit)’ will replace them:

    • Purified antibodies raised against microorganisms listed in the approved starter cultures list (standard permit)
    • Purified antibodies raised against listed standard laboratory microorganisms and infectious agents (standard permit)
  • The current BICON case and permit conditions for ‘Purified and raised against antigens from multicellular organisms or synthetic material’ will be updated to more clearly define the types of antibodies permitted and ensure that consignment-specific evidence can clearly demonstrate adherence to conditions. Please note:

  1. The department will not be amending current active import permits. Permit holders can apply to vary their current import permit via their BICON account (fees apply).
  2. Any applications submitted before 6 June 2022 that include standard permits being replaced or amended will be processed as applied for. Applications submitted after this date will no-longer have those options available.
