Removal of Date Restrictions for Countries Approved for Avian Animal Fluids and Tissues

Effective from 9 November 2021

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) has removed the date restrictions from the list of countries approved for avian fluids and tissues for laboratory use. The approved country list is referenced on active permits and in BICON pathways. The list is used where import conditions require that goods are sourced from avians which resided in countries approved for avian fluids and tissues (as listed on the department’s website) at the time of collection. This change will result in a reduction in the frequency of updates to the department’s list of countries approved for avian fluids and tissues.

Note that no countries have been added or removed from this list as a result of this change. All countries which formerly were subject to a restricted date range have been moved into the main approved list.

If you are an affected permit holder, the department will contact you to notify you that your permit is affected by this change and explain what this means for you.

The department will continue to monitor the disease status of countries approved for avian fluids and tissues and will provide specific advice to permit holders when changes occur.

Who does this notice affect:
Departmental staff and importers and brokers of avian fluids and tissues (and derivatives) for laboratory use.

Import permits:
Current import permits will not be updated to reflect this change.
