Expansions to the Compliance-based Intervention Scheme
Effective from 13 February 2020The department is incorporating a number of products onto the Compliance-based Intervention Scheme (CBIS). This change is scheduled to take effect on 13 February 2020.
The following commodities have been scoped for addition:
fresh blueberries from New Zealand
fresh Agaricus mushrooms from New Zealand
fresh immature corn (all countries)
fresh permitted mushroom species (all eligible countries)
fresh permitted truffle species (all eligible countries)
dried onions (all countries).
The change may require you to lodge some commodities differently in the Integrated Cargo System (ICS), with an AQIS Commodity Code (ACC). Where an ACC code is required, this will be specified in the relevant BICON case.
More information about the new commodities, including a list of ACC codes will be published on the department's CBIS webpage.
Who does this alert affect:
All importers and their agents importing CBIS eligible fresh and dried commodities and any border operational staff clearing these goods. The changes may also impact clients importing goods under the Offshore Pre-shipment Inspection Program (OPI), where an ACC code may be required to identify these goods.
