Transition to new government health certificates for bovine dairy (excluding cheese & butter)

Effective from 23 May 2020

The department is transitioning towards new government health certificates for bovine dairy including colostrum from approved countries.

Currently, government health certificates do not require a statement regarding the lumpy skin disease (LSD) status of the country of manufacture.

The department is now transitioning towards government health certificates which require:

  • A statement that the bovine dairy ingredients were manufactured in countries which meet the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) standards for freedom from lumpy skin disease.

In order to facilitate the transition, health certificates which do not include this statement will continue to be accepted, until further notice.

Please note:

  • Although the statement can be absent from the government health certificate, it is still a requirement that the country of manufacture be recognised by the department as LSD free, as stipulated in the import conditions.

  • The government health certificate must continue to include the statement that the source country is LSD free.

An updated BICON alert will be released when this transition is complete.
