Removal of accompanied baggage as an approved mode of arrival from most fresh produce pathways

Effective from 21 November 2019

The department has removed accompanied baggage as an approved mode of arrival from most fresh produce pathways. This change is required because the risk assessments that support import conditions for these goods are based on commercial production practices and a reliance on NPPO oversight, inspection and certification, and a high degree of product security and integrity. It is difficult to obtain assurance that these requirements have been met when goods are imported under passenger and mail pathways. Exceptions are due to historical precedence.
