Important information about the approved countries for salmon

Effective from 18 June 2020

The department has written to trading partners to seek their assurance that they can comply with the new import conditions for salmon that came into effect on the 1st of September 2019.

The United States of America is approved as both a source and processing country. However, they have advised that they can only certify product that is sourced and processed in the USA. Trade cannot occur where product is sourced in the USA and processed elsewhere OR where product is sourced elsewhere and processed in the USA.

Germany has not yet agreed to a health certificate for thermally treated salmon. Trade in these products cannot occur at this time.
