The department has written to trading partners to seek their assurance that they can comply with the new import conditions for salmon that came into effect on the 1st of September 2019.

Thailand has not confirmed that they can meet the new import conditions. As a result trade in salmon processed in Thailand is unable to occur at the moment.

The United States of America is approved as both a source and processing country. However, they have advised that they can only certify product that is sourced and processed in the USA. Trade cannot occur where product is sourced in the USA and processed elsewhere OR where product is sourced elsewhere and processed in the USA.
