Changes to certification of bulbs under the Bloembollenkeuringsdienst (BKD) scheme December 2019

Effective from 20 December 2019

As per the BICON alert issued on 5 March 2019, the format of the Bloembollenkeuringsdienst (BKD) certificate for bulbs produced under the approved certification scheme in the Netherlands has changed.

Bulbs produced and certified under the BKD Scheme may now be accompanied by either a “Leveranciersdocument / Supplier’s Document” or a BKD “EigenVerkaring” certificate. The “Leveranciersdocument / Supplier’s Document” will be endorsed by the NPPO and contain a number that is referenced and provides a numerical link to the Phytosanitary Certificate.

Plant Imports Operations are in the process of clarifying the changes to the format and will amend BICON import conditions for BKD certified bulbs to reflect changes to the certification process.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of BKD certified bulbs for the end use of nursery stock, brokers, Assessment Services Group and Inspections Group.

Import Permits:
Current import permit holders will be notified if the update in conditions will result in a variation to import permits.
