Transition to new government health certificates for dairy (including cheese and butter)

Effective from 25 February 2016

Transition to new government health certificates for dairy (including cheese & butter) for human consumption.

The department is currently transitioning towards new government health certificates for dairy, cheese and butter imported from foot and mouth disease (FMD) free countries.

Currently government health certificates require:

  • FMD freedom with or without vaccination.

  • FMD country or zone freedom.

The department is transitioning towards government health certificates which require:

  • FMD freedom without vaccination (vaccination will no longer be accepted).

  • FMD country freedom (zone freedom will no longer be recognised).

In order to facilitate this transition any of the above statements will be acceptable, until further notice.

An updated BICON alert will be released when this transition is complete.
