Revised import conditions for multiple fresh produce cases
Effective from 16 July 2019The department has removed the ‘doors ajar’ provision from a number of fresh produce pathways that permits container doors to be left open when goods are in transit.
A number of minor administrative changes to improve the clarity of import conditions were also made at this time.
Who does this alert affect:
Importers of selected fresh produce for human consumption (listed below), brokers, Inspections Group and Assessment Services Group.
Background:
Our department has conducted operational reviews of plant, animal and biological import conditions to protect Australia’s biosecurity status and to maintain our market access for agricultural products. The review of import conditions for fresh produce sought to strengthen biosecurity surveillance and analysis under the Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper.
