Changes to certification of bulbs produced under the approved Bloembollenkeuringsdienst (BKD) scheme

Effective from 5 March 2019

As a result of recent changes to the Bloembollenkeuringsdienst (BKD) Certificate, format for bulbs produced under the approved certification scheme in The Netherlands, the Department of Agriculture will be updating import permit conditions in BICON to reflect the new format.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of BKD certified bulbs for end use nursery stock, brokers, Assessment Services Group and Inspections Group.

Background:
Bulbs produced and certified under the BKD Scheme may now be accompanied by either “Leveranciersdocument / Supplier’s Document” or a BKD “EigenVerkaring” certificate. The “Leveranciersdocument / Supplier’s Document” will be endorsed by the NPPO and contain a number that is referenced and provides a numerical link to the Phytosanitary Certificate.

Plant Imports Operations are in the process of clarifying the changes to the format and will be amending BICON import conditions for BKD certified bulbs to reflect the changes to the certification process.

Import Permits:
Current import permit holders will be notified if the update in conditions will result in a variation to import permits.
