Import permits required from 1 September for cut flowers/foliage from Colombia, Kenya and Ecuador
Effective from 1 July 2019From 1 September 2019, the department will require import permits for fresh cut flowers and foliage that were produced in Colombia, Ecuador or Kenya using a systems approach. Cut flowers and foliage certified as being treated using methyl bromide or an alternative treatment in these countries will not require an import permit.
Importers can apply for import permits through BICON from 1 July 2019. Submitting an application early will allow time for the department to assess the application and grant a permit for use from 1 September 2019.
Consignments imported prior to 31 August 2019 do not require import permits.
