Revised import conditions for cell lines

Effective from 4 April 2019

A review has been completed for the cell lines BICON case which will result in changes to import conditions.

The revised case is expected to be published in BICON on 6 May, 2019.

Who does this notice affect?:
Importers of cell lines.

Background:
The pathways (questions and answers) in the new BICON case for this commodity type will be streamlined and simplified. The new case will ask users to select one of the following proposed BICON pathways for cell lines:

1. Laboratory animals, insects and humans (standard permit conditions)
2. Not laboratory animals, insects or humans (standard permit conditions)
3. Other (non-standard permit application required).

A product questionnaire will be also added to the 'Other' pathway to provide importers with the information required for an application for a non-standard permit.
