Revised import conditions for highly refined organic chemicals and substances

Effective from 28 March 2019

A review of this case has been completed which will result in changes to import conditions.

Who does this notice affect?

Importers of highly refined organic chemicals and substances

Case description

This case describes the requirements for the importation of highly refined organic chemicals and substances.

The revised case is expected to be published in BICON on 29 April 2019.

The pathways in the new BICON case for this commodity type will be streamlined and simplified.

The BICON case will include the list of highly refined organic chemicals and substances as specified in Part 2, Division 1, section 33 of the Biosecurity (Prohibited and Conditionally Non‑prohibited Goods) Determination 2016. As such, an import permit is not required, however the legislated import conditions apply.

All goods imported under this commodity case will need to be identified as being included on the above list.

Importers will need to provide evidence that the goods being imported meet the import conditions listed in the BICON commodity case. Goods may only be imported for the specified end uses.

Links to other BICON cases that may be relevant to the importer will be provided in the updated BICON case.
