This case describes the requirements for the importation of Cannabis spp. as tissue cultures and cuttings.

Summary of import conditions

All Cannabis spp. nursery stock requires an import permit prior to importation into Australia.

Tissue cultures require phytosanitary certification, inspection and a minimum 3 month growth period in the Australian government’s post-entry quarantine facility for disease screening.

Unrooted and rooted cuttings require phytosanitary certification, inspection, chemical dip and a minimum 3 months growth period in the Australian government’s post-entry quarantine facility for disease screening.

Importers may also require other permits from the Office of Drug Control, Department of Health and Aged Care, Therapeutic Goods Administration and local and/or state governments.
