The current import conditions for many items can be found on the department’s biosecurity import conditions database BICON. Click this link for the names of some items and the relevant BICON reference. Check the individual BICON cases for import conditions as many of these items require mandatory inspection, some requiring treatment or import permits.

This commodity or species may be subject to the Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy legislation under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and flora (CITES). Commodities/species known to be, or considered to be covered by CITES will be referred to the Department of Home Affairs (Customs and Border Protection) on arrival to Australian territory, in addition to their need to satisfy biosecurity import conditions.
