Case Description
This case describes the requirements for the importation of animal hair/fibre, bristles, wool, wool grease and silk for all end uses other than for animal consumption, veterinary therapeutics, fertiliser, bioremedial or growing purposes. This case also includes products made from or containing derivatives of wool grease (e.g. lanolin) and silkworm cocoons (not containing the pupae).

The new Natural fibres (and their derivatives) of animal origin case is now live in BICON. However, if the revised conditions are not met, previous conditions for animal hair and fibre, lanolin, wool grease and wool will be accepted until Monday 4 March 2018 (inclusive).

There will be ongoing exemptions to existing permits and health certification from the updated import conditions post 5 March 2018. An updated BICON alert will be published on the 5 March 2018 providing further ongoing advice.
