Case Description

Warnings and Information Notices
Horse chestnuts or conkers (Aesculus hippocastanum) are usually imported threaded on to a piece of string. The fruit is a brown nut, with a very shiny, polished skin, showing a dull, rough, pale-brown scar. It must not be confused with sweet chestnut (Castanea spp.) which is also a brown nut, roundish in shape and flattened on one side. Sweet chestnut (Castanea spp.) requires an import permit.
