This case describes the requirements for the importation of products manufactured from bamboo stem, laminates and veneers made from bamboo stem, and bamboo leaf products for food display purposes.Bamboo stem products must be free from green/viable bamboo.Import conditions for bamboo leaf products found in this case are ONLY for food display purposes.

Plant material embedded in a solid medium

Effective 21 August 2020 to present

This case describes the requirements for the importation of plant products that are embedded in a solid medium. Plant material embedded in plastic includes plant materials, wood or bamboo that have been fully embedded (that is, not capable of free movement) in a solid medium that is impervious to air and liquid. Plant or plant parts with soil attached are permitted, providing the soil is fully embedded. Acceptable embedding media include catalysed hard plastics and hard silicones, fibreglass, resin, or similar compounds which have been fully sealed around the plant material using heat, moulding or chemical processes. Plant material embedded in plastic does not include plant materials, timber or bamboo that have been surface coated with a laminate, lacquer, paint, stain or items that have been wrapped in other materials. It further does not include engineered or impregnated wood or plant products such as plywood, veneer, compressed agricultural waste/wood products and reconstituted wood or wood plastics.

This case describes the requirements for importation of fresh, frozen, dried and processed mushrooms for human consumption. This case also includes permitted and restricted medicinal species used in tablets, capsules, liquid, injectable vials, ointments or as an ingredient in food or beverages (including tea bags). Timber and timber products Alerts Changes

This case covers timber products both manufactured and unfinished. Individual pieces of timber must have at least one dimension less than or equal to 200mm. Examples include sawn timber logs less than 200mm in diameter, flooring and wooden beams, furniture, household items, stationery, musical instruments and sporting equipment. Dried herbs for human consumption Alerts

This case describes the requirements for the importation of dried herbs. Importation is permitted for human consumption and human therapeutics. This includes pods without seeds, citrus peel, leaves, flowers, stems, roots, gums, resins, rhizomes, spices and crushed nut shells that are thoroughly dried and not capable of propagation. The case does not apply to seeds, fruit or bark. For pods with permitted seed and dried fruit, please use the Dried fruit BICON case. For permitted seed, please use the Raw seed BICON case.
