Dried herbs for human consumption Alerts

This case describes the requirements for the importation of dried herbs. Importation is permitted for human consumption and human therapeutics. This includes pods without seeds, citrus peel, leaves, flowers, stems, roots, gums, resins, rhizomes, spices and crushed nut shells that are thoroughly dried and not capable of propagation. The case does not apply to seeds, fruit or bark. For pods with permitted seed and dried fruit, please use the Dried fruit BICON case. For permitted seed, please use the Raw seed BICON case. Dried herb products not for human consumption

This case describes the requirements for the importation of dried herb products. Importation is permitted for all end uses other than for human consumption, animal foods, fertilisers or growing purposes. Products may contain ingredients such as leaves, flowers (not whole), stems, roots, gums, milled seed, resins, rhizomes, spices and crushed nut shells. These must be thoroughly dried, broken into small pieces and not capable of propagation. The case does not apply to unmilled seeds, fruit or bark. Maize grits for human consumption or processing

This case describes the requirements for import of maize grits (or broken corn) for human consumption, or further processing into either food or for alcohol production. The goods must be commercially prepared and packaged. Maize grits (or broken corn) may range in size from granules less than 3mm or degermed kernels or granules greater than 3mm but less than full kernels. Corn cob articles being imported not for human consumption should be assessed under the Permitted plant fibres BICON case.
