This case describes the import requirements for permitted Actinidia spp. as nursery stock. All permitted Actinidia spp. nursery stock requires an import permit prior to importation into Australia. Tissue cultures and the media they are grown in will be inspected for visible contamination, require phytosanitary certification and a minimum 6 months growth period at the government’s post-entry quarantine facility where they will be screened for disease. Dormant budwood will require inspection, chemical treatment and a minimum 12 months growth period at the government’s post-entry quarantine facility where it will be screened for disease. Sphagnum moss Changes

This case describes the requirements for the importation of sphagnum moss for all uses other than animal foods, fertilisers or for growing purposes. Sphagnum moss is dried plant material used in the floral industry and nurseries to make wreaths, basket liners, water retention matting or for use in seed raising mixes. Sphagnum liquid waste absorbent is used for the cleanup of hazardous waste. The product consists of processed and dehydrated sphagnum moss that is often imported bagged, baled or as booms.

Tissue cultures may be imported without media from a department approved source.
