Processed grain and seed products for human consumption

This case describes the requirements for the importation of processed grain and seed products for human consumption. The grain or seed must be made non-viable by processing. Processing includes cooked and frozen grains and seeds, textured vegetable proteins (e.g. tofu), vegan products (including cheese, sausages and yoghurt), flours, flakes, meal, meslin, bran, protein flour and grains and seeds that are puffed or exploded. Flakes must be rolled so the grain is cracked. This case also applies to processed nuts in the form of powder, meal or flakes. For cooked seeds, please see Cooked seeds for human consumption. This case describes the requirements for the importation of proficiency testing samples (or reference samples) for in vitro use or in vivo use in laboratory organisms. For samples that contain no ingredients of biological origin refer to the BICON case Synthetic material. Examples include sawn timber, structural timber, furniture, household wooden items, stationery, musical instruments and sporting equipment. Import conditions in this case only cater for timber where individual pieces have at least one dimension less than or equal to 200mm. Seed for sowing requiring an import permit

This case describes the requirements for the importation of seed species, which have recently passed a weed risk assessment. Species listed in this import case require a permit for import, until such a time that the species is added to the Permitted Seeds List (PSL) as referenced by the Biosecurity (Conditionally Non-Prohibited Goods) Determination 2021. Once species have been added to the PSL, they may be imported without an import permit, under the conditions of the BICON case for Permitted seed for sowing.
