Sawdust and woodchips

This case describes the requirements for the importation of sawdust and woodchips. Sawdust products include, but are not limited to, products and products containing chunks and bits of wood, wood chips, sawdust or wood powder, wood shavings, wine making oak alternatives (excluding barrels, staves and headboards). Dried herb products not for human consumption Alerts

This case describes the requirements for the importation of dried herb products. Importation is permitted for all end uses other than for human consumption, animal foods, fertilisers or growing purposes. Products may contain ingredients such as leaves, flowers, stems, roots, gums, milled seed, resins, rhizomes, spices and crushed nut shells. These must be thoroughly dried, broken into small pieces and not capable of propagation. The case does not apply to unmilled seeds, fruit or bark. This case describes the requirements for the importation of dried herbs. Importation is permitted for human consumption and human therapeutics. This includes pods without seeds, citrus peel, leaves, flowers, stems, roots, gums, resins, rhizomes, spices and crushed nut shells that are thoroughly dried and not capable of propagation. This case describes the requirements for the importation of firewood, pellets, briquettes, agglomerated logs made out of extruded, pressed and pelletised sawdust, wood powder or wood shavings. This case also applies to fully carbonised charcoal in all forms made from wood or other plant material.

Plant material embedded in a solid medium

This case describes the requirements for the importation of plant products that are embedded in a solid medium. Plant material embedded in plastic includes plant materials, wood or bamboo that have been fully embedded (that is, not capable of free movement) in a solid medium that is impervious to air and liquid. Plant or plant parts with soil attached are permitted, providing the soil is fully embedded. Acceptable embedding media include catalysed hard plastics and hard silicones, fibreglass, resin, or similar compounds which have been fully sealed around the plant material using heat, moulding or chemical processes. Plant material embedded in plastic does not include plant materials, timber or bamboo that have been surface coated with a laminate, lacquer, paint, stain or items that have been wrapped in other materials. It further does not include engineered or impregnated wood or plant products such as plywood, veneer, compressed agricultural waste/wood products and reconstituted wood or wood plastics.
