Cucurbit seed for sowing requiring testing for plant viruses

This case describes the requirements for the importation of cucurbit seed for sowing that require testing for cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV), melon necrotic spot virus (MNSV), kyuri green mottle mosaic virus (KGMMV), zucchini green mottle mosaic virus (ZGMMV) and Phomopsis cucurbitae (black rot). Species of seeds that are hosts of these viruses require inspection and testing before being released from biosecurity control. Seed that is host of black rot requires fungicidal treatment.

This case describes the requirements for the importation of coir peat for use in the horticulture industry as a growth medium, mulch or fertiliser. Coir peat is derived from the fibrous husk of the coconut and is typically imported in compressed bricks or bales.

Ricinus communis seed for sowing

This case describes the requirements for the importation of Ricinus communis seed. Note: The genus Ricinus is considered to be monotypic, with Ricinus communis being the only species. Previously described species within the genus Ricinus have been transferred to other genera or grouped within R. communis. R. communis may be imported under the following conditions: All seed for sowing is required to have an import permit prior to importation into Australian territory. All seed must be free of contamination when inspected on arrival. The seed must be packaged in clean, new packaging with the botanical name clearly identified. All seed must be grown in an approved post entry quarantine facility in Australian territory, from seedling emergence to seed harvest, where the material will be visually screened for disease. Biodegradable urns Alerts

This case describes the requirements for the importation of biodegradable urns for human, or animal, remains. Biodegradable urns can be made from rice husks, coir peat, sphagnum, wood pulp and other plant materials that pose a biosecurity risk. Urns must be manufactured in a way that will reduce the biosecurity risk or be subject to mandatory treatment. These conditions do not apply to urns made from bioplastics such as starch derivatives or cellulose.

Sawdust products include, but are not limited to, products and products containing chunks and bits of wood, wood chips, sawdust or wood powder, wood shavings, wine making oak alternatives (excluding barrels, staves and headboards). Noodles for human consumption Alerts

This case describes the requirements for the importation of noodles for human consumption only. This case may include items such as pasta, spaghetti, egg noodles, commercially packaged noodles or instant noodles. Please note that this case applies to noodles derived from plant material only and noodles containing egg. If you are importing a composite product that includes ingredients other than egg, you must search BICON for each individual ingredient to determine the conditions that apply. For food products including pasta and noodles containing equal to or greater than 10% egg (excluding meat) refer to the BICON case Egg and egg products for human consumption. Sphagnum moss Alerts

This case describes the requirements for the importation of sphagnum moss for all uses other than animal foods, fertilisers or for growing purposes. Sphagnum moss is dried plant material used in the floral industry and nurseries to make wreaths, basket liners, water retention matting or for use in seed raising mixes. Sphagnum liquid waste absorbent is used for the cleanup of hazardous waste. The product consists of processed and dehydrated sphagnum moss that is often imported bagged, baled or as booms.
