This case describes the requirements to allow the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) to monitor the content, and control the movement, of transhipped ship’s stores and aircraft stores for use on cruise vessels, commercial vessels and commercial aircraft. Note: This case does not apply to ship/aircraft spares. Ship/aircraft spares are defined as “parts or accessories that are required for the maintenance or general operation of a vessel”. Examples of ship/aircraft spares include engines or engine components, seals, bearings, lubricants, new filters, o-rings etc. These items are generally not derived from, nor contain, animal or plant products. However, if ship/aircraft spares do contain components of biosecurity or are used spare parts, then consignments must be referred to the department for assessment.

This case describes the requirements for the importation of starter cultures (and derivatives) for human food, beverage, human therapeutic and cosmetic use only. Note that import conditions in this case are also applicable to primary derivatives e.g. antigens, proteins, genetic material. Please note that this case only applies to the starter culture component of composite products. Maize for human consumption or processing

This case describes the requirements for import of bagged and containerised whole raw maize kernels, corn seeds, maize grits, broken corn and degermed maize kernels for human consumption or further processing into either food such as popped corns or for alcohol production. The goods must be commercially prepared and packaged. Maize grits or broken corn may range in size from granules less than 3mm or degermed kernels or granules greater than 3mm, but less than full kernels. Highly processed maize product such as corn flour should be assessed under Processed grain and seed products for human consumption. Corn cob articles being imported not for human consumption should be assessed under the Permitted plant fibres BICON case.

This case describes the requirements for the importation of these goods for all uses other than as animal foods, fertilisers, or for growing purposes. Cocoa butter, also called Theobroma oil, is an edible vegetable fat extracted from the cocoa bean. Cocoa cake, or cocoa mass is the solid remainder of this extraction process.
