This case describes the requirements for the importation of pet food, pet food ingredients, and supplements for pets and companion animals. This includes goods which are intended for consumption by dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and horses (pets and performance animals) but does not include goods which are intended for consumption by production animals or food producing species (e.g. cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens). Goods may contain biological ingredients derived from animals, microbes (e.g. Saccharomyces), [e.g. fungi (including e.g. mushrooms)], plants, macroalgae (i.e. seaweed), and/or microalgae. Goods may be commercially prepared and packaged or may be imported in bulk for further processing in Australia i.e. to be included within a pet food product.

Dried herb products not for human consumption

This case describes the requirements for the importation of dried herb products. Importation is permitted for all end uses other than for human consumption, animal foods, fertilisers, growing purposes, bioremediation and veterinary therapeutic use. Products may be individual leaves (not bunches of leaves attached to the stem/branch/vine), flowers (not on stems), stems, roots, gums, resins, rhizomes, spices and crushed nut shells. These must be thoroughly dried, broken into small pieces and not capable of propagation. This case does not apply to, fruit or bark. Stockfeed, stockfeed ingredients and stockfeed additives

This case describes the requirements for the importation of stockfeed products to be fed to stock animals including ruminants, poultry, pigs, horses, aquatic animals and bees. These products may contain ingredients of animal, microbial, plant, macroalgae, microalgae and/or mineral origin. This case should also be used for silage inoculants and for samples of plant-based stockfeed being imported for laboratory analysis. For products that are also used as veterinary therapeutics (e.g. antibiotics) please also consult the case for Veterinary therapeutics and veterinary therapeutic ingredients. Dried herbs for human consumption

This case describes the requirements for the importation of dried herbs. Importation is permitted for human consumption and human therapeutics. This includes pods without seeds, citrus peel, leaves, flowers, stems, roots, gums, resins, rhizomes, spices and crushed nut shells that are thoroughly dried and not capable of propagation.
