Ricinus communis seed for sowing

This case describes the requirements for the importation of Ricinus communis seed. Note: The genus Ricinus is considered to be monotypic, with Ricinus communis being the only species. Previously described species within the genus Ricinus have been transferred to other genera or grouped within R. communis. R. communis may be imported under the following conditions: All seed for sowing is required to have an import permit prior to importation into Australian territory. All seed must be free of contamination when inspected on arrival. The seed must be packaged in clean, new packaging with the botanical name clearly identified. All seed must be grown in an approved post entry quarantine facility in Australian territory, from seedling emergence to seed harvest, where the material will be visually screened for disease. Ship or aircraft stores for transhipment Alerts

This case describes the requirements to allow the Department of Agriculture (the department) to monitor the content, and control the movement, of transhipped ship’s stores and aircraft stores for use on cruise and commercial vessels. Note: This case does not apply to ship/aircraft spares. Ship/aircraft spares are defined as “parts or accessories that are required for the maintenance or general operation of a vessel”. Examples of ship/aircraft spares include engines or engine components, seals, bearings, lubricants, new filters, o-rings etc. These items are generally not derived from, nor contain, animal or plant products. However, if ship/aircraft spares do contain components of biosecurity or are used spare parts, then consignments must be referred to the department for assessment.
