This case describes the requirements for the importation of human therapeutics and medicines. This case includes human material for human therapeutic use e.g. organs for transplant, blood products for transfusions. This case may include, but is not limited to, complementary medicines (including Chinese medicines) containing animal and/or microbial derived material.

Zantedeschia spp. for use as nursery stock

This case describes the requirements for the importation of species of Zantedeschia plants, tissue culture and tubers. All plant material requires an import permit prior to importation into Australian territory. Tissue cultures must have root or callus development, be free of visible contamination, and require phytosanitary certification and inspection prior to release from biosecurity control. Other plant material will require inspection, fumigation and a minimum 3 months growth period in quarantine at an approved arrangement site for visual disease screening. Dormant Zantedeschia tubers from approved countries may be imported under an approved system that requires inspection overseas to verify freedom from pathogens of concern. Tubers must be treated for insects, and following inspection and treatment, may be released from biosecurity control without the need for post entry quarantine. The case describes the requirements for the importation of processed banana and banana products for the purposes of human consumption and processing. This case includes banana and banana products that have been dried, boiled, cooked, fried or baked, banana flowers, frozen leaves or frozen products containing banana leaves, extracts or highly processed goods and banana flavours. This case describes the requirements to import goods for veterinary therapeutic use (including vaccines, therapeutic products, medicines, and products for use in assisted reproductive technologies). This case must also be used for ingredients for use in veterinary therapeutic manufacturing. Veterinary therapeutic goods may come in forms such as tablets, pills, capsules, powders or liquids. Veterinary therapeutic goods are used to: prevent, diagnose, cure or alleviate a disease or condition in animals, or prevent, diagnose, cure or alleviate an infestation of animals by a pest, or cure or alleviate an injury suffered by animals, or influence, inhibit or modify a physiological process associated with a disease or condition in animals.
