Case: Antigens for laboratory use Effective 26 Jan 2023 to 11 Feb 2023

This case contains a number of different import scenarios with associated import conditions. You can refine the import scenarios by answering the questions below.

Which of the following best describes the material that the antigens are derived from?

For antigens that are 100% synthetic and are not on a biological carrier refer to the BICON case: Synthetic material.

Antigens derived from synthetic material must be 100% synthetic. ‘Synthetic’ antigen products containing microbial components or those that are bound to a biological conjugate (such as sugars, proteins or fluorescent labels) require a non-standard import permit application.

Antigens derived from microorganisms and infectious agents (including approved starter cultures, standard laboratory microorganisms and infectious agents, and other microorganisms and infectious agents) are now included under the Microorganisms and infectious agents (and derivatives) case. Please refer to this case for import conditions for antigens derived from microorganisms and infectious agents.

If the goods are proficiency testing samples or reference materials, please refer to the BICON case Proficiency Testing Samples.
