Case: Capsicum spp. (requiring testing) seed for sowing Effective 17 Sep 2019 to 01 Oct 2019

This case contains a number of different import scenarios with associated import conditions. You can refine the import scenarios by answering the questions below.

Are the seed lots tested for regulated pathogens prior to shipment?

Capsicum seed must be tested for:

  1. Columnea latent viroid, Pepper chat fruit viroid and Potato spindle tuber viroid using a reverse-transcription PCR test.

  2. Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) using an approved PCR testing protocol or approved ELISA test kits.

Note: Testing for ToBRFV using ELISA will only be accepted for seed lots tested prior to 15 April 2019. Seed lots tested for ToBRFV from 15 April 2019 onwards must be tested by an approved PCR testing protocol.

Approved PCR testing protocols and approved ELISA test kits for ToBRFV testing can be found on the department's website.
