Case: Low risk genetic material for in vitro and/or in vivo use in plants and/or laboratory organisms Effective 07 May 2021 to 14 May 2021

This case contains a number of different import scenarios with associated import conditions. You can refine the import scenarios by answering the questions below.

Which of the following best descibes the goods?

Low risk genetic material includes:

  1. Characterised DNA where the nucleotide sequence is know and the DNA is known not to contain genetic material from a plant pathogen or an infectious agent.

  2. Nucleic acid preparations from uninfected plants, free of symptoms, not known or suspected to be infected and not collected in the field.

  3. Nucleic acid preparations from organisms other than plants, pathogens and infectious agents.

  4. Individual genes from plant pathogens other than pathogenicity-related genes.

Genetic material may be cloned in the following laboratory microorganisms & vectors:

  1. Yeast and bacterial artificial chromosomes and vectors derived from bacteriophages and/or plasmids, or

  2. standard laboratory microorganisms as listed here, or

  3. approved vectors and microorganisms for in vivo use in plants as listed here.
