Case: Permitted seed for sowing Effective 13 May 2022 to 18 May 2022

This case contains a number of different import scenarios with associated import conditions. You can refine the import scenarios by answering the questions below.

Are the seeds pelleted?

Pelleted seed refers to seed that has been coated in a pellet of inert material (commonly mineral substances). Pelleting improves the shape, size and uniformity of raw seeds for more accurate sowing by hand and machine. Some pellets are also primed with fertilisers and pesticides to enhance germination rates and protect the crop from pests and diseases. Encrusted seed may be considered a form of pelleted seed. However, film coated seed, in which the seed is coated in a thin film of polymer, is not a form of pelleted seed.
